Founded in 1958 by the brothers Arno, Henrique and Victor Aggens,
along with their friend Carlos Regner, soon replaced in the
company by Gastćo Schwingel, Selenium was born in the city of
Canoas, RS, Brazil.
In 1960, it launched its first Tweeter, which became a synonym
of this type of loudspeaker for its quality and technical
performance. In this same decade, its first loudspeaker for
residential use was also developed.
In 1973, the company moved to the 2nd District of Canoas, Santa
Rita, witch was emancipated in 1993, taking the name of Nova
Santa Rita.

In 1980, the company enters the automotive line and, in a short
time, acquires and outstanding position in this segment.
As from 1985, Selenium also starts servicing the demands of
sound installation in large rooms, thus entering the line of
professional products.

Technological vanguard and pioneer lauchings have always marked
its growth, which occured very fast. Today, in order to service
three different lines of automotive, professional and
residential loudspeakers, Selenium counts with more than 300
co-workers in a property of 40 thousand sq. m. and has a network
of almost 10 thousand sales points, which are responsible for
the distribution of over 200 products.
In 1997, Selenium was awarded with the ISO 9001 Certification
from BSI - British Standards Institution - and in 1998 it
received the Prźmio Gaścho da Qualidade (Gaścho Quality Award),
a recognition for the work of everyone who acts in the state of
Rio Grande do Sul and to the quality and excellence of its
products. In the same year, Selenium was chosen by the Audio Car
Magazine as the Best Loudspeaker Company in Brazil.
In 1998, it was awarded the QS 9000 Certification and, in 1999,
it again received the Prźmio Gaścho para Qualidade e
Produtividade (Gaścho Quality and Productivity Award).
An absolute leader in the professional loudspeaker market,
Selenium is today a profitable, capitalized and sound company,
which is maintaining a strong rhythm of business growth.
Investments in research, development and quality management have
further enlarged its market, both in Brazil and abroad. Since
its creation, Selenium continues with the same seriousness and
determination that has always guided it, keeping up to its goals
of development, manufacture and marketing products with the
sound technology, thus cooperating with the development of
Brazil. |
